People regularly ask me whether Lufenuron can be safely combined with MMS, “Miracle Mineral Solution”, AKA “Master Mineral Solution” and “Miracle Mineral Supplement”.

Novartis says that Lufenuron has no interactions with other medications, the substance is very stable and chemically inert, apart from functioning as an anti-catalyst to Chitin synthesis. So I always say: “Sure, you can combine the two”.

I never knew what MMS really was. I had read it stood for “Miracle Mineral Supplement”, so I suspected it to be a mineral supplement containing Magnesium and Phosphorus or something. I do not frequent alternative health forums and never visit sales sites for “miracle” products – they are a dime a dozen and it’s impossible to keep up with the latest scam – so I had no idea what MMS was, until yesterday.

It turns out that MMS, instead of curing cancer, causes cancer!

MMS is Sodium chlorite, a common form of household bleach, a toxic industrial disinfectant, a powerful oxidant (= free radical) that causes cancer when ingested in small quantities and massive organ damage or death when taken in significant quantities. There also is a “MMS2″, containing another form of bleach, used to scrub swimming pools’ walls for disinfection (it’s not added to the actual water because it would make people sick).

I thought: “How come people haven’t been dropping dead from that stuff in droves – it’s so heavily promoted that it must be killing off gullible folks left, right and center?”

The answer is simple: One bottle contains only 4 fl. oz. (118 ml), of which 22.4% is Sodium Chlorite (better known as household bleach):

You’d have to drink a couple of those small bottles to be lethally poisoned, so I guess that is rare, since the instructions say not to take more than 15 drops per day. Not that we should pay much attention to the treacherous FDA but just to show that it’s not just me who says MMS is poison: The FDA said this about Miracle Mineral Supplement:

“The product, when used as directed, produces an industrial bleach that can cause serious harm to health. The product instructs consumers to mix the 28 percent sodium chlorite solution with an acid such as citrus juice. This mixture produces chlorine dioxide, a potent bleach used for stripping textiles and industrial water treatment. High oral doses of this bleach, such as those recommended in the labeling, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration.”

Even the FDA sometimes says the right thing, like a broken clock showing the correct time twice a day. Canada banned the sale of MMS because a Canadian who took it nearly died. Other countries banned its sale as well. By itself no proof of a bad product, as Stevia is illegal nearly everywhere as well, as a sweetener.

25 mg of Sodium chlorite per bottle. That would make the bottle and its packaging an order of magnitude more expensive than the cost of the bleach it contains.

When I see products heavily advertised using terms like “miracle”, I always look at their profit margin. When it is above a thousand percent, alarm bells go off and I investigate. I did that with the $4 dermarollers sold for $80 (2,000% profit) and I am now doing it with a tiny bottle with 20 cents of bleach sold for $20 as “Miracle Mineral Solution” or “Miracle Mineral Supplement” (MMS). 10,000% profit – you’d truly expect a miracle.

Let’s not dwell too long on the man behind MMS, “Bishop” James V. Humble. He usually appears with a gemstone on his forehead nowadays, to appeal to magical thinkers. He bought his Bishop title from a religious title mill “Church” of which both the founder and his successor were criminally investigated for child rape. He needed that title so that it was easier for him to start a tax-exempt “Church”. Instead of attacking the vendor, we should judge his claims on their merit: James Humble claims that MMS cures all disease known to mankind including Malaria, Diabetes, Influenza, Crohn’s disease, Herpes, Arteriosclerosis, Tuberculosis, CFS, Hepatitis A, B and C, Cancer and of course AIDS. Everything except dying of old age. MMS enlarges breasts too! “A teenage girl, overweight with depression and failure to develop breasts, was given MMS. The next day her breasts started to grow.” Yes people, MMS truly works wonders. If not for your health or breast size, then certainly for Mr. Humble’s finances. Bishop Humble the Bleach Healer. Funny how he had a massive spinal tumor removed in early 2009. MMS clearly didn’t work for him.

A cure for all ills, where have we heard that before? Every couple of years someone becomes wealthy with a miracle cure. It seems none of these miracle cures work, because millions of people keep buying one after the other and they still feel the need to email me and tell me they tried all those magical potions – fruitlessly. When they, with a mixture of hope and scepticism inquire about Lufenuron, I nearly always tell them not to buy it. You can try it yourself. Email me, pretending you are sick, you think it’s Candida and you’ve tried everything. I’ll tell you that unless there is strong medical evidence that you indeed have Candida, don’t buy Lufenuron. I’ll tell you that what is commonly thought to be Candida is often not Candida at all. I’ll try to discourage you from buying Lufenuron if you have no positive antibody test or visible sores. People should first get educated on what could be the cause of their health problem, instead of wasting money on “miracle solutions”.

I have not been able to find any references to studies done with MMS that suggest that even one sick person has been cured, neither did I find any evidence based in science that would suggest that MMS could kill pathogens in the body, as opposed to on surfaces. The ravingly positive testimonials are fake, published by spammers, MMS resellers and affiliates. In fact there is ample evidence that MMS (bleach) taken orally causes, not cures, cancer. MMS contains hundreds of times more bleach than allowed in drinking water and that rule is for a good reason: Bleach is a powerful oxidant and free radical, and the reason people are advised to eat antioxidants is because they neutralize oxidants. Why do oxidants need to be neutralized? Because they cause cellular damage. Cellular damage leads at best to premature aging and at worst to cancer. Oxidants ravage RNA, leading to cell apoptosis, tissue necrosis and, if the immune system has a bad day – cancer. More about how MMS causes cancer here.

Mr. Humble the magical potion millionaire says that MMS “kills all bacteria, pathogens, viruses, cancer cells” and whatnot, but – another great miracle – the gut flora is left in peace! Mr. Humble abuses microbiological terms like “aerobic” and “anaerobic” to make you believe that that’s actually possible. As far ar Mr. Humble is concerned, the invention of Penicillin was a waste of time. A few drops of bleach in your lemonade cures Tuberculosis, Cancer and AIDS and enlarges your boobies too.

From http://www.health-science-spirit.com/MMS.html

“Jim Humble, a chemist and metallurgist accidentally discovered the MMS by using a whole bottle of Stabilized Electrolytes of Oxygen (S.E.O.) to immediately cure a companion of malaria during a jungle expedition. S.E.O. contains about 3 % sodium chlorite. Humble gradually realized that S.E.O. is too weak”.

Let’s ignore the fact that Jim Humble is no chemist, but focus on the claim: Malaria was instantly cured by drinking a 3% bleach solution, but 3% was too weak. It was in fact extremely much too weak, since Jim increased the concentration in his Miracle Mineral Supplement roughly tenfold. Then how come Malaria was instantly cured? That page contains so much baloney and downright ridiculous gobbledegook that I could debunk every sentence as hilarious nonsense but it would take an article ten times this size. Just as one crazy man can ask more questions than ten wise men can answer, it takes quite some scientific reasoning, backed up by references, to refute the baloney in those claims. Such as the claim that Lyme disease is caused by a virus, instead of the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi (s.l.) And that bleach can’t damage body cells. The abject advice is given to rinse out burns with the MMS bleach, causing of course even deeper tissue damage, increasing the risk of permanent scars. There are countless web pages devoted to the crapolic MMS cult. Literally every sentence is nothing but lies, disinformation, pseudoscience and psychological manipulation.

Mr. Humble bought his Bishop title from a religious title mill. Hoping to get rich quick, he started as a gold prospector in Africa, but he found a richer goldmine in sick people’s gullibility and he now is a billionaire. He says he has more than 5 million customers. Say that each customer buys on average 5 bottles during their lifetime, that’s 5,000,000 x 5 x $20 = five hundred million dollars. Tax-free, since “Bishop” Jim Humble owns the “Genesis II Church of Health and Healing”. Yup, if you don’t want to pay taxes, do as Ron Hubbard of Scientology did: Start your own cult. James Humble made at least twice that amount and is a billionaire because it’s not just bleach he sells. Books, DVD’s, ebooks, courses, seminars, consultations, the lot. On top of that, he sells pastor titles. His pastors give away MMS on street corners, but they “solicit donations” in return that go to a numbered offshore account belonging to Mr. Humble. For his “legal defense fund”. Sick but rich individuals are asked up to donate up to one million dollars to the “Church” as a sign of gratefulness for their “cure”.

Because various countries would like to arrest Mr. Humble for causing the deaths of their citizens, he exiled himself to the Dominican Republic, a country without extradition treaties. Imagine the splendor of his mansions and the beauty of his mistresses. The man is more liquid than Bill Gates. The best Cuban cigars are but a short yacht trip away. Mr. Humble can afford the world’s best lawyers, wealth managers, and tax attorneys, search engine optimization experts, web designers and forum spammers. He employs his own private army of affiliates – ready to rip their enemies – anyone with a brain – to shreds. I think I should also launch a “miracle supplement”.. Caustic soda, anyone? (Kills all pathogens stone dead, leaves the body alone because “its got electrolytes!“)

Why MMS does not kill pathogens in the body, but the body itself

On the MMS disinfo pages it is claimed:

“When a chlorine dioxide ion contacts a harmful pathogen, it instantly rips up to five electrons from the pathogen, in what can be likened to a microscopic explosion… harmless to us, but terminal for pathogens.”

The big lie here is the “harmless to us” Because this also happens with the first human cell the bleach ion encounters. Since the chance that those ions touch a body cell before they touch a pathogen is almost infinitely high, in reality, when you drink bleach, all it does is cause cell damage to your own body, leaving virtually no bleach left to kill any pathogens. So it’s a double lie. All damage is done to your own body, and none to any pathogens – except perhaps some in your throat. Bleach indeed kills pathogens – but the catch is that bleach absolutely can’t distinguish between your cells and bacterial/viral/fungal/parasitical cells. It kills the first cell it stumbles upon. It denatures the first protein it sees, cuts through DNA like a hot knife through butter. The problem is that the average person just doesn’t grasp this simple scientific principle. When confronted with the incessant barrage of lies coming out of James Humble’s multi-level marketing machine, it’s all too easy for a little seed of hope to grow and from there it’s a small step to pulling out a credit card.

“Bishop” James Humble is a criminal, plain and simple. Megalomaniac liar as he is, he claims to have saved the lives of 100,000 people. I say on the contrary: He undoubdedly has contributed to the death of many sick people who could otherwise be saved. By promising them that MMS cures all disease, he encourages patients to cease unpleasant, but life-saving treatments in favor of his bleach. With his admitted 5 million customers, if just one in a hundred suffered from cancer and only one in a thousand of those decided against that extra treatment that could save their lives, then we have over four dozen poor sods who died because they believed that quack’s lies. Such cynical, yes psychopatic liars must be cut out of society. The damage they do is too great. It’s not the billion dollars stolen from the weakest in our midst. It’s not the spreading of magical belief systems-for-profit on an industrial scale. It’s the globally spread hope and faith in a poison that makes the sick sicker and bereaves children prematurely of their ailing parents and grandparents – not to mention those deluded individuals who administer this vile broth to their toddlers in the hope they’ll stop crying – because that happens too. We occasionally get people who want to feed their babies Lufenuron “just in case” so it’s inevitable that they’d do the same with MMS because it’s good for you and totally harmless, right? And when it’s harmless and good for you, the more the better, right?

Several countries have already put out arrest warrants for this ruthless thug.

“Jim Humble is wanted in Malawi Africa and other African countries surrounding it, and has at least two arrest warrants out for him, regarding the poisoning and death of several people who have died due to taking this procedure and giving them false information. On his websites he is careful not to say it cures just helps conditions, but in Africa he says it does cure all, the problem is he has been saying it cures everything from aids to hep and more, these peoples immune systems are already compromised so if they take this in heavy doses they become very ill or die!”

From that same page:

“I’m a chemist, and I can tell you for a fact that chlorine dioxide will attack anything that it can grab electrons from. That includes healthy cells in the body, such as the stomach and gut lining. That causes irritation which results in nausea, vomiting and diarrhea as the body desperately tries to rid itself of the poison you have ingested. Chlorine dioxide cannot tell a toxin or a bacterium from a healthy human cell, it will happily damage any of them. If you took enough MMS to get blood concentrations of chlorine dioxide high enough to kill a single pathogen, you would probably die, though that would take about 400 ml or a couple of bottles full. Antibiotics are far more potent at killing bacteria than MMS, and far less toxic. Dicloxacillin, for example, is 100 times more potent at killing bacteria than MMS, and 20 times less toxic.”

Noone knows exactly what this man is up to. He say he’s working with prison authorities in African countries to do experiments on prisoners, to give but one example.

MMS affiliates and magical thinkers alike will be saying: “Bishop Humble is the victim of a Big Pharma/FDA witchhunt, they want to neutralize him because he found the cure for all disease!” Sure. When I start selling caustic soda as the cure to all ills, I’ll also eventually be “witch-hunted”. The real witch hunting is done on MMS forums. Anyone who speaks against MMS is immediately banned, like Rhys Morgan, a boy with Crohns disease who explained why he thinks MMS can’t cure disease – on the contrary.

MMS doesn’t work, period. It can’t work, because it would have to violate a few laws of nature to do so. Ions would have to have brains and legs to direct them to pathogens, instead of random body cells. Of course you can believe in miracles and believe “Bishop Humble” on his honest-to-God word, since this do-gooder, in his own words, descends from a line of priests all the way to Jesus.

And as for the 1000′s of people cured of Malaria in Africa? I’m a researcher. I research everything, and I’m good at it. I have spent months trying to find info on the Malaria cures in Africa. The government of Malawi knows nothing about it. It isn’t in any of the African newspapers. There is no evidence whatsoever, other than Jim Humble’s word. And how is it that it can cure Malaria in 4 hours, AIDS in a day, and you guys have been taking it for months and nothing but nausea and diarrhea? People keep saying, “Jim Humbel says that it’s pathogen die off”, or “Jim Humble says to increase the dose” He isn’t a doctor, he isn’t even a chemist. He hasn’t seen the patient, how does he know? I think that the referral to a cult comes from the book that Humble wrote about him having lived 100′s of previous lives and the difference between him and others is that he remembers.”

Humble’s army of affiliates have gone into full-blown attack mode and even come with threats of violence. In an attempt to educate this poor ignorant soul, I was sent a PDF made by Jim Humble. That PDF purports to explain exactly how MMS destroys pathogens on a molecular level. After reading it, I became strengthened in my belief that Mr. Humble knows full well that his MMS is a fraud, because someone who’s able to use all the scientific-sounding terms such as “electron shell” and even draw a (falsified) 3D model of one, clearly has done some research into the chemistry involved. Meaning, he is educated enough to know the truth, but he chose to misrepresent it in order to sound credible. If he would merely have come with vague claims that could still be attributed to ignorance. Someone who publishes a very scientific looking PDF full of three dimensional models of the quantum mechanics of molecules and who uses all the applicable professional lingo, but who lies about the facts every step of the way clearly is a deliberate fraudster. Me calling him a ruthless thug was appropriate, and I am not taking it back. People are dying because of this scam. I fervently hope that Humble will sue me, because the outcome will prove once and for all that his whole setup is a scam:

1. Humble claims that electron shells fully envelop covalently bonded molecules (or polyatomic ions). That is a gross misrepresentation of basic chemistry that nicely helps draw the wool over our eyes.

2. Humble claims that by pulling some of the electrons out of their outer shells, that the entire molecule will disintegrate into separate atoms. That is nonsense for many reasons, one of them being the threedimensional electron orbital structure of molecules and hence the need of a lot of electron-pulling in many places simultaneously- impossible to do unless half of the blood serum would be replaced by MMS.

3. Humble claims that part of the MMS “curing mechanism” involves the creation of free oxygen atoms, and that that free oxygen is totally harmless because “it can not oxidize things but become part of the water or carbon dioxide in the body”. This is complete nonsense. An oxygen atom will immediately destroy the first random molecule it comes into contact with – whether it be that of a pathogen or that of your body.

4. Then follows a claim on how oxygen “can’t do damage to the body”, because its oxidation strength is “only 0.95 Volts”. This claim is patently false. Oxygen is very harmful – so harmful in fact that breathing pure oxygen for just a few hours will result in permanent brain damage due to central nervous system oxygen toxicity. Every IC ward nurse knows this, and adjusts the supply of supplemental oxygen such that the patient never breathes pure oxygen, or even 50% or 40% oxygen. The devices used are designed in a way that the patient can never breathe pure oxygen, because it would kill in less than a day. Under higher pressures than atmospheric pressure, Oxygen can kill in minutes. Every NITROX SCUBA diver knows that. Even the 21% oxygen in our air damages our cells and tissues all the time, and our body has to repair that damage all the time. It has even been postulated that the oxygen in the air we breathe is a small contributor to causing lung cancer.

5. Humble also says that the Chlorine split off by his carcinogenic concoction is nothing to worry about, because it “turns into harmless table salt by combining with Sodium in the body”. Well, no. There is no free Sodium (Na+) in the body for the Chlorine atom to attach to. Instead, it will severely damage the nearest protein molecule or DNA strand or anything else it touches.

6. Humble claims that there is a big difference between the proteins in bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites and in the proteins in our bodies. He says that MMS kills only the proteins in the pathogens, but not in our bodies. But he is wrong. There is no such fundamental difference. All proteins react the same to free radicals.

There are many more wild, unsubstantiated claims and plain untruths in that PDF. For the layperson, it looks like an impressive explanation of fundamental biochemistry principles. For anyone with a basic knowledge of highschool chemistry, it is unadultarated baloney.

A lot of bad things have been written about Lectins recently, but not all is as dark as it seems. Not all Lectins are bad. Some Lectins can be allies in the fight against Candida.

Lectins are chemicals that occur in plants. Plants make them for various purposes, including that of self defence against fungi. Lectins are a kind of proteins that can bind to carbohydrates. In that capacity, some types of Lectins can wreak havoc, by causing things to stick together that shouldn’t stick together. The “bioterrorism” / “spy killer” Ricin is a Lectin. Some Lectins are interesting to us because they bind to the glucans or Chitin in the fungal cell wall. There are many plant Lectins but only one select group of Lectins can kill fungi, as we read in “Lectins as plant defense proteins” by Willy J. Peumans and Els J. M. van Damme:

So there are some Lectins with the beautiful name “Chimerolectins”, and they kill fungi. All good and well, but the first thing we need to verify when we’re looking into the potential usefulness of natural food chemicals to treat disease, is their bioavailability. That’s a fancy way of saying: “Does it reach the spots in my body where I have Candida”. Because many plant chemicals disintegrate by heat or do not survive the digestive process. Good news, because the same article says that Lectins do survive high temperatures, and do survive being eaten:

Great! Practical as we are, we start looking for something of vegetable origin that we can buy in the supermarket, something with a lot of Chimerolectins in it.

Page 6 of the book “Handbook of plant Lectins: Properties and biomedical applications” by Els J. M. van Damme et al. says yes:

Some Phaseolus species have 50% of Chimerolectin in their protein. Beans in that species are the common bean, black bean, kidney bean, pinto bean, green bean – members of Phaseolus vulgaris. Some of these beans however contain toxic Lectins (poisonous to humans), requiring ten minutes of cooking to neutralize them. It’s a geat shame, but I think it is safe to presume that the hours of cooking required to make beans palatable will destroy their Chimerolectins as well, in spite of the fact that Chimerolectins can witstand heat to a certain extent. If the toxic Lectins can get neutralized by cooking, so can the Chimerolectins.

Which leaves us with garlic: It mentions that half of the protein in garlic cloves are Chimerolectins. Finally, we found out exactly why garlic is reported to be a useful natural antifungal! Likely, boiled garlic (blanched shortly, just to take its edge off) may still have antifungal properties, since Chimerolectins are reportedly heat-resistant (not heat-proof). There is not much information available on which other vegetable products contain Chimerolectins. But common sense says that especially seeds are good potential candidates to find Chimerolectins, because plants will go quickly extinct when fungi are able to infect their seeds. If you know of any other food with Chimerolectins, please drop me a line at sarah@owndoc.com

I have expressed sceptiscism in previous articles about a strong relationship between heavy metals and Candida, but for those who believe there is such a relationship it will be interesting to know that garlic has been scientifically proven to help eliminate heavy metals:

I have been living with Lyme disease since 1995. I still test positive for Borrelia IgG and IgM on a Western Blot, and also immunofluorescence tests come out positive.

The lab that tested me at my own initiative is a “reference laboratory”, a lab that sets the standards for, and verifies the results from all other labs in the region in case there are ambiguities.

That lab even asked me to send more of my serum, to be used as a “golden standard” for Lyme infection, as I test positive for both Borrelia afzelii as well as Borrelia garinii, the prevalent European strains. Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto is more prevalent in the US. I showed this letter to my local ID specialist, who shrugged his shoulders at it.

I have a textbook case of neuroborreliosis. Bitten by many ticks from an endemic Lyme area, some of which were only discovered embedded in my back days later, wrongly removed so that their stomach contents was pushed into my bloodstream, followed by the classical bullseye rash (Erythema Migrans) and a myriad of typical Lyme symptoms. I did not receive treatment until four years later, when I almost died and it had become too late for a full cure.

Since then, I have been on a near-continuous regimen of broadspectrum antibiotics. Over the past decade I have taken Doxycycline, Minocycline, Tinidazole, Metronidazole, Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, Azithromycin, Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole and even Hydroxychloroquine because it is synergistic with the antibiotics. I never used intravenous abx. because they carry significant risks and from what I have read, they seem to about as effective (or ineffective) as the much cheaper orals. I like to keep the IV option in case the orals I use now stop working. There isn’t any choice in orals either: Neuroborreliosis needs an antibiotic that penetrates the blood-brain barrier, and the only oral antibiotics that do that are a fcouple in the family of the Tetracyclines: Doxy- and Minocycline.

A sizeable proportion of people putting their hope in our Candida treatment Lufenuron are in fact suffering from something that can’t be distinguished, at least symptom-wise, from neuro-Lyme. These people are most seriously ill. We’re talking about people so sick that they are unable to work and so miserable that they’re seriously contemplating suicide. I know I have.

I almost literally went through hell and back with my Lyme and it pains me to see how others are going to hell but won’t make it back. My symptoms were very serious. I ended up in an ambulance, taken to an IC ward, put on oxygen, a full set of EEG leads on my body and an IV in my arm. During the years that followed, I lived like a zombie. A tormented, half-paranoid soul who lost all her friends and who would get a fit if she heard a teaspoon stirring. Violent mood swings, chronic headaches, joint pains, severe heart rhythm problems such as 175 bpm sinus tachycardia when trying to relax, ADHD, memory problems, problems talking, extreme fatigue, balance problems, excessive perspiration, muscle cramps, anxiety attacks, tingling limbs, loss of motor function in the fingers etc. I still have some of that and I still need antibiotics or I suffer a quick and severe relapse.

Do some of these symptoms sound familiar to you? Did you think they may have something to do with Candida? They might not.

Everything I write is my personal opinion, based on scientific research by others. I do not have all the answers, but I have observed myself during all those years, I have postulated, experimented and studied the available medical literature.

Fact is that the etiology, the cause of almost all disease is officially unknown. The medical-industrial complex likes you to think otherwise. They claim that “Our knowledge doubles every few years”, making it an exponential curve towards imminent omniscience if you believe them. Or they waffle about “autoimmunity” and ignore the evidence of living Bb bacteria in the brains of deceased MS patients, for example. Autoimmunity my ass. God or evolution did not make such basic mistakes.

The sordid reality is that they are at best ignorant, and at worst lying. All they do is inventing complex-sounding names for the symptoms they don’t know what they’re caused by. Parkinson’s disease, for example. They know that the symptoms are caused by the destruction of a specific part of the brain, but they are clueless as to what actually causes it. The same with Multiple Sclerosis. The same with Alzheimer. The same with Crohn’s. The same with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. And so on and so forth. They want us to spend money on a cornucopia of symptom-relievers, they bedazzle us with mumbo-jumbo voodoo science, but when push comes to shove they’re only relieving symptoms because they don’t want to know how to attack the cause. The reasons are varied, but it all comes down this: Big Pharma makes much more money keeping you sick and addicted to symptom-relievers, than to find and eliminate the cause. Contributing factor is the monkey-nature of humans: Any doctor or researcher sticking out his head above the rest will get it chopped off. Paradigm shifts are few and far between in any discipline, most of all in medicine. It wasn’t long ago when those few surgeons that washed their hands before an operation were ridiculed by their peers.

In our day and age there are doctors who think that there is sufficient hard evidence that almost all serious chronic disease of the central nervous system is caused by mycoplasmic bacteria. These doctors are marginalized. As far as Big Pharma is concerned, this idea doesn’t even exist. There hasn’t been any significant R&D effort into developing novel antibiotics for decades. Symptom relievers are more profitable. They like us to believe that bacteria can be killed with a few weeks of antibiotics. They hide from us the myriads of effective ways bacteria have to evade the immune system, our deliberately rigged “tests” and even our antibiotics. Look up “efflux pumps”, for example. Antibiotics only kill bacteria when they’re growing or dividing. But bacteria such as Bb, Borrelia burgdorferi, divide and grow a hundred times slower than “ordinary” bacteria, turning three weeks’ treatment into six years. I will write about the flawed tests another time. Yes, tests purposely designed to yield many false negatives. Sometimes the reasons are as mundane as the necessity not to violate patents, but more often the reasons are more sinister and have to do with how best to extract the most money out of the patient. Governments have to trust the Medical-Industrial complex and politicians routinely get lucrative career offers from Big Pharma. I have done my homework. In front of me is a paperback copy of “The American Health Empire – Power, Profits and Politics – A report from the Health Policy Advisory Center (Health-PAC)”. Written by Barbara and John Ehrenreich in 1970, fourty years ago. It exposes how Big Pharma owns the US government. How they sabotage health care. How their diagnostic tests are rigged. How their treatments are phoney. And how this situation is deteriorating fast – in 1970!. I have been doing my homework since 1970, and you better start doing it too.

If you were a bacterium that had just invaded a human body, and you wanted a secure future for your offspring, what would you do? Where would you go? Evolution has provided bacteria with ingenious ways of surviving our immune system. There are places where our immune system can’t reach them at all – neither can antibiotics get fully rid of them. They are often invisible for any and all tests currently available. It is a complex subject matter and I can only touch upon it here.

Our immune system has cells being pumped around by the bloodstream that recognize bacteria and trigger the production of antibodies. Some cells simply “eat” bacteria . None of such cells exist in so-called “immunoprivileged sites”. Those are places in our body where there is only a severely impaired or even non-existing immune system. Examples are the synovial fluid (the fluid surrounding the joints) as well as the cartilage of the joints themselves, the liquid in the eyeball, the testes and first and foremost: The entire Central Nervous System, including the brain. So this is how a lot of chronic bacterial infections manifest themselves: Arthritis and neurological problems. The neurological problems are caused by tphenomena such as chronic vasoconstriction or neurally mediated vasospasms. This can lead to chronic pain and organ impairment anywhere in the body. Pain can also be caused by damaged neuronal tissue. Lyme bacteria eat away the insulating myelin layer around the nerves, and all kinds of mayhem ensues. On top of that comes a chronic inflammation of the capillary vessels in the brain caused by our immune response and the neurotoxins from the bacteria themselves. Last but not least: Many bacteria like to go intra-cellular: They burrow inside neurons and even T-cells, where they can survive for three months – the lifespan of such cells. Borreliae form “blebs”, “granules” and “cysts”. The former two are small particles that preserve the bacterial DNA and can later, under more favorable circumstances, grow back into a spirochete – the most advanced of all micro-organisms. The latter is a protective “bubble” around a bacterium, impenetrable to immune system cells. The short-circuiting of nerve fibers and the physical destruction of neurons, as well as the constant inflammation of the bloodvessels that feed the brain cause a wide variety of “invisible” neurological symptoms. Irritability and mood swings are just as common as balance disturbances or more serious “psychiatric” problems such as apparent paranoid behavior. Parts of the brain are being starved of oxygen due to chronic ischemia – restricted bloodflow due to neurologically- and inflammation-caused constriction of blood vessels in the brain. everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Especially the Medulla oblongata is a likely target for the bacteria, as it is their first stop from the spinal cord towards the brain. Things will go haywire. Constipation, insomnia, (sleep) apnea, heart rhythm disturbances, incontinence and a plethora of the weirdest things can and will eventually happen. When I moved my head suddenly, my heart rate would double. When I tried to sleep, my heart rate would triple. I perspired profusely, my husband watched how water dripped off my hands when I took antibiotics for the first time. The large drops formed visibly and dropped on the floor, every few seconds one until there was a wet spot on he floor. For a couple of years, I could not hold my pee. My breathing stopped several times a day and I only became aware of it because I suddenly gasped for breath, after having been non-breathing for at least a minute. Constant exhaustion was perhaps the worst part, together with the pains and the severe cardiac irregularities. Nobody understood what my problem was. They thought I was going crazy. I was getting desperate and started to lose hope.

I never received adequate medical help. I had to arrange for my own reliable diagnostic tests. I had to arrange for the proper antibiotics in their proper dosages. I still do, and I still have to pay for them myself, in spite of the fact that I have health insurance. Chronic bacterial infections of the CNS are grossly underdiagnosed, mainly because they are considered to be extremely rare – but they aren’t and that has been proven, only for the evidence to be buried. The infectious disease specialist in my local hospital refused to even look at the test results from this laboratory. “Get that out of my eyes”, were his exact words. Any test not done by them was considered bogus, even when they had no experience with Lyme disease and that lab is a recognized authority on tick-borne infections. In fact, I had been bitten less than 100 miles from that lab, so they had the proper tests for the strains that were prevalent there. See, medical doctors in the West have no interest in curing people. They’re arrogant and ignorant bureaucrats.

A picture of Lyme spirochetes attacking Lymphocytes (50 000 x):

I am very much better than ten years ago and still slowly improving. If I hadn’t found out what was wrong with me through my own research and enforced antibiotic treatment through legal threats delivered through an attorney, I would have died mere days afterwards. I know of several people – family of friends – who weren’t that persistent and predictably, they died. The uncle of a friend was hospitalized with what they thought was a rare neuromuclular disorder. They took him of life support a week later. The day after his hospitalization I found out that he had been treated for an infection of the vertebrae the year before – only with the wrong antibiotic – an antibiotic that doesn’t penetrate bone. Both his ID specialist as well as his family physician were on summer vacation and his family was unwilling to urge antibiotic treatment on my insistence alone. So he died, less than a year after starting his pension. He had worked and saved hard all his life. The autopsy showed that an infection had eaten through his spinal nerves. His family was unwilling to sue the hospital, and wouldn’t have been successful anyway. The uncle had never married and they got the inheritance. Do your homework or die. I was too ill myself with Lyme disease at that time, or I would have gone to that hospital. Anyway, his family forbade me in no uncertain terms to interfere, so as not to upset the doctors and their “beloved” uncle who was at that point on a ventilator, at the mercy of people who had neither the interest nor the competency in saving him.

The only antibiotic that helps my case is relatively large doses of Doxycycline, or about half that dose of Minocycline. It helps to occasionally combine it with Hydroxychloroquine. And it helps to alternate with Amoxicillin, every few months for a week or so. This takes care of the Lyme Encephalitis, which can act as a “Trojan Horse” for the Amoxicillin: Encephalitis “opens” the parenchyma, the capillary blood vessel cells that make the blood-brain barrier, allowing the Amoxicillin molecules through – temporarily. Any molecule that is not lipid-soluble and smaller than 500 Daltons can’t pass the BBB, except when it’s inflamed or opened by other means. You see, I did my homework. So should you, before you go and self-treat. I say it again: If your symptoms are caused by a bacterial infection of your CNS, Lufenuron is not going to help you.

Sometimes I go “cold turkey”, not taking anything for three to five weeks until exacerbating symptoms force me back. Some people believe that “pulsing” antibiotics helps. Recently I’ve observed that when I am otherwise at my healthiest, my immune system attacks the Lyme hardest and I feel worst. Nevertheless, if I then force myself to take a walk, I walk faster than normal and get less fatigued than normal. Counter-intuitive but useful – by stopping the antibiotics when you feel worst, you may in fact help your immune system eradicate the infection more effectively. Whatever you do, don’t mix classes of antibiotics and stay away from Flagyl and Fasigyn because you’ll end up with a serious Candida infection.

Again: Do your homework before you assume you have Candida. In spite of what Global Health Trax says, not everything is Candida. Some things are worse and you may have it. Find out which disease fits your symptoms before it’s too late. Do not rely on quacks, commercial websites or hysterical forums.

If many of your symptoms are neurological, please consider the fact that you may be suffering from a bacterial infection of the CNS. Candida does not produce sufficient neurotoxins that it can cause significant neurological problems. Even with the best antibiotic treatment against a bacteriological neurological infedtion, it might take months before you’ll improve, and you may worsen significantly for a year or more even, as the immune system, faced with bacterial debris, mounts a massive response and keeps responding until the bacterial load is diminished by orders of magnitude. This is complex stuff. Nobody can help you with this but yourself, as not even LLMD’s (Lyme-literate medical doctors) can be considered particularly knowledgeable. Even Joe Burrascano still combines Probenecid with Amoxicillin, whilst a study in The Lancet clearly showed that Probenecid competes with Amoxicillin’s entry into the parenchyma, leading to treatment failure in neuroborreliosis. Burrascano, allegedly the world’s #1 LLMD, refused to admit he was wrong and kept using Probenecid. All I can do is urge you to find out what’s wrong with you and then do whatever it takes to get proper treatment. Be your own doctor if you can’t get help from “The System”.

Heavy metals are undeniably bad for us. It has been found that especially mercury, in levels found in the average human body, depresses the immune system. This has lead many people with websites about Candida to claim that “Candida and heavy metals go hand in hand”, peddling heavy metal tests, mercury detox protocols, heavy metal detox diets and especially a myriad of supplements intended to “drive out the heavy metals”.

Interestingly, colloidal silver – a “heavy”, but non-toxic metal – actually is an effective antibiotic/antifungal. Therefore the term “heavy metals” is inaccurate – we should just call them “toxic metals” instead. Mercury compounds are effective antibiotics/antifungals as well (that’s why they’re added to vaccines) but in concentrations found in our bodies, all they can do is slowly causing organ damage – they have little to no effect on the bacteria and fungi in and on our bodies. We thought it would be easy to find scientific backup to the very specific and rather bold claims about mercury as it pertains to Candida, but in spite of a plethora of claims, there isn’t any – just sales talk disguised as professional nutritional/holistic advice, or a bland repetition of such “propaganda”. Our position is that yes, mercury and other heavy metals have a negative influence on health but the significance of heavy metals’ connection to Candida is greatly exaggerated, giving the false impression that if you buy some of the myriads of questionable “detox” products out there, that all will be well. In our opinion, those products do not work as claimed. In our opinion, all you can and should do is to avoid mercury-rich food, move out of a mercury-rich environment and to let amalgam fillings be replaced by a better alternative. The body will then naturally eliminate most of the residual heavy metals in a matter of months. My opinion about Candida and heavy metals, specifically Candida and mercury is as follows – of course I can be wrong. I am not a medical doctor, but I consider myself experienced and qualified enough to give an informed opinion:

1. “Heavy metals make Candida grow faster”

Not necessarily, and certainly not directly. Candida grows very well without heavy metals present (in a Petri dish in a lab for example) and heavy metals are toxic to all life, including fungi, including Candida. There is no evidence that mercury has the slightest influence on Candida growth.

2. “Candida absorbs heavy metals and that makes you sick until you are detoxed”

Nonsense. Heavy metals can only make you sick when they bind with important molecules in your body, causing damage or problems within the central nervous system and other organs such as the kidneys. Mercury bound to Candida would be totally harmless, as it cannot bind to the body’s molecules any more. Contrary to popular belief, chronic Candida in the organs or CNS is extremely rare because without medical treatment, this would kill in mere days. The average Canida sufferer has Candida in or on the mucous membranes – and skin – mouth, vagina, warm moist skin areas and the intestine. Some people have it in the lungs or bladder. The Candida remains on surfaces (inside or outside the body) and rarely enters the bloodstream or inside organs. When that happens, the patient dies in a few days, often even when intravenous antifungals are promptly administered. There are no grounds to assume that Candida can “attract” mercury, neither is there to assume that Candida-bound mercury is more dangerous than brain-bound mercury.

3. “Candida helps eliminating heavy metals, in symbiosis with a healthy body”

Wrong. Heavy metals do not accumulate on the mucous membranes or on the intestinal lining – the only places where Candida could bind with them. At those locations, the heavy metals would be outside of the bloodstream and outside important organs, so they are not a problem there. Mercury’s most important trouble-spot is in the central nervous system. Candida in the central nervous system leads to death within days, therefore, non-dying people never have Candida in the CNS. For these reasons and others, Candida does not aid the body in getting rid of heavy metals. The fact that some mercury atoms have been discovered in Candida cell walls (if they ever have – we haven’t seen the research yet) does not mean that the Candida miraculously removed those atoms from the brain. There are no “good” or “healthy” levels of Candia in the body. In the colon, more than 1 yeast cell per 1000 intestinal bacteria is already pathological. Candida is a parasitic, opportunistic, potentially lethal microorganism and no research exists that it is in any way beneficial to any living organism.

4. “Healing Candida is possible by detoxifying heavy metals”

Unlikely. It would be theoretically possible, only if you have a bad case of mercury poisoning but otherwise have an excellent diet and no history of using antibiotics or other risk factors. We have never seen credible evidenc to support this theory however. Ordinary people with mercury fillings do not easily get Candidiasis. There seems to be no firm relationship. People without amalgam fillings do get Candida infections, and people with mercury fillings usually don’t have Candida infections. Candida is like any other hostile microorganism that has infected our bodies. Fungi are well-adapted to colonizing a compromised body – compromised due to many factors such as overuse of antibiotics, poor hygiene, immunodeficiencies, bad diet, stress etc. There are many factors much more important than heavy metals.

5. “When you kill Candida, it releases heavy metals that make you sick”

No. The Mercury is bound to Candida’s cell wall. When the Candida dies due to antifungal treatment, its cell wall bursts open, but releases no mercury because that remains inside the burst cell wall. The dead Candida is then eliminated through feces or natural turnover of mucous membranes.

6. “Heavy metals damage the part of the immune system that fights Candida”

There is an element of truth in this, but it is tremendously exaggerated due to commercial motives. The effect of stress, lack of sleep and excercise, simple vitamin and mineral deficiencies is much higher, except in the most egregarious cases of mercury poisoning. You have to understand that the body has natural ways to get rid of heavy metals. Yes they are cumulative, but when you remove their source, you are “clean” within at most a few years. The thousands of products that claim to help removing heavy metals simply do not work. The ones that do work are medical chelation products, and even they have limited efficacy and serious side effects.

7. “Candida needs to eat mercury for its own survival”

No it does not. No organism in nature needs heavy metals for survival, neither were heavy metals readily available in host organisms or their environment before the industrial revolution, which is a negligible timespan in evolutionary terms.

8. “Mercury kills all the good bacteria so that Candida can proliferate”

False. Most of the bulk of feces consists of bacteria. If you would have no bacteria in your feces, it would be sterile and it would smell nice or not at all. You would either die of severe diarreah, or you would have such constipation that surgical help would be required. The levels of mercury in the bloodstream of people with mercury poisoning is too low to be able to kill bacteria. It is mainly detectable in hair, nails and the CNS and hardly in the soft tissues and mucous membranes where we find the beneficial skin and gut flora, as well as Candida. Those levels are many orders of magnitude too small to have an antibiotic effect, and any exposed gut bacteria would quickly develop resistance even at much higher levels. You would be dead of mercury toxicity before the bacteria would. Gut and skin bacteria even develop total resistance to megadoses of doxycycline and amoxicillin after a few years. Even with enormous levels of mercury in the bloodstream, bacteria would have become resistant a couple of years after the fillings had been set. Moreover, antibiotic mercury compounds (such as Thimerosal) are just as toxic to fungi as they are to bacteria – this is why they are added to bulk vaccination vials.

9. “The body allows the Candida to proliferate as a defence mechanism, because the Candida binds the mercury in its cell wall”

The body does no such thing, because the risks of a Candida infection are much higher than the risks of mercury poisoning. There are no evolved mechanisms that stop immune actions against fungi as a direct reaction to the presence of mercury, because mercury poisoning was not an issue before the industrial revolution. Deliberately auto-suppressing such an important part of the immune system would have disastrous consequences for the susceptability to infectious agents. It would mean that you would likely succumb to a deadly fungal infection (Aspergillus of the lungs, Candidiasis of the mitral valves etc.) when you would on occasion ingest a heavy metal. There is no proof that this mechanism exists, and it is highly unlikely that it does.

Peter, a Norwegian customer send us the below illustrated testimonial to Lufenuron’s effectiveness in treating various (presumedly) fungal infections:

NB: We have received an email from someone who did not believe that these feet are the same. They thought the scar was suspicious. The reason for the scar is explained below. To prove that this is a real before-and-after story, we give out the full name and email address of this customer on request.

Hi Sarah…

Time for some feedback as promised – I started my first course of Lufenuron the day of arrival, Thursday, October 29th.

I ingested the first 15 grams as per the recommended 5 day regimen – no obvious Herxheimer reaction occured (at least none that I know of), may be some nausea on the 3rd or 4th day, but this could be for any reason what so ever – nausea is NOT uncommon in my life :o((

BUT – I’ve had som VERY POSITIVE reactions – dandruff and scaling of my forehead has subsided almost totally – my “Pustular Psoriasis” on hands and feet are reduced by an estimated 80% – a few stubborn ulcers and “hot spots” seem to remain, but I really think Lufenuron has helped A LOT – I’ll show you some “Before and After” pictures HERE:

July 12, 2009. Most recent photo BEFORE Lufenuron

November 9, 2009. 10 days AFTER starting Lufenuron – some minor sores still present, but MUCH MUCH BETTER!!!

One can still see the “shaded area” that used to be infected – this is the BEST SITUATION in some 20 years+!!!! Also you will see the lower part of the scar related to my bypass surgery – the “vein-graft-cut” extending almost up to the groin…. I had heart surgery on August 10th 2009 – her they took approx. 2 feet of vein (also called graft) from the inside of my left leg, of which they used the best parts for coronary bypass – the scar extend the same 2 feet upwards from the ankle….

ALSO there is some improvements in my Prostate-urinating problem – everything “flows easier” though still room for improvement….

Unfortuantely the whole observation process has been masked by a touch of Swine Flu – I think I have had this for the last 10 days or so, not severely ill, but I had the usual symptoms – light fever, cough, sore throat (especially tonsils and saliva glands), runny nose, sore muscles and feeling “bad all over” – I hav’nt got it veryfied by blood tests, but the whole society around me are struck by H1N1 right now, so why not me??

But again – theese flu-symptoms COULD BE severe die-off reactions as well?? Who really knows??

My plan for the future is: resume Lufenuron intake (I stopped after the first course to see “hov far and where this took me”) – I think I will take another bag as the “5 day protocol” to sort of saturate my system with Lufenuron.

AND – YOU CAN USE MY PICTURES as much as you want – I think they are quite amazing actually – first of all THEY ARE THE TRUE STORY - and should the Psoriasis issue be solved completely using Lufenuron, you will get a picture of this as well…

How does Lufenuron kill fungi?

Candida’s cell wall is made of Ergosterol and Chitin. Most other fungi have Chitin in their cell walls as well. Dave Iler found this beautiful photo of this deadly organism – mycelial Candida albicans – of which the Chitin part of the cell wall was stained with a fluorescent dye. The photographer is Veronica Veses-Jimenez, and it made second place in a photography contest here.

Sarah,

You may have already seen this.

It is a fascinating fluorescent light photomicrograph of Candida Albicans, stained with a chitin brightener (among other things). Since one of the dyes is a chitin brightener then it stands to reason that the blue fluorescence in the exterior hyphael cell walls must be chitin.

This is one beautiful photograph, and a magnificent piece of work. It’s the best I’ve ever seen.

Enjoy.

Cordially,

Dave

Lufenuron prevents Candida from growing and repairing the Chitin in its cell wall.

By blocking Candida’s Chitin-synthesis, the Candida does not have a way to repair the constant damage being done to its cell wall caused by various processes in its environment (our bodies), including the onslaught of our immune system. Within hours, holes start to form in its cell wall, and its guts literally seep out, killing it. The Ergosterol gives Candida’s cell wall its flexibility, and the Chitin is responsible for its strength. Candida can’t grow and it can’t keep its cell wall intact, when Lufenuron is present in sufficient concentration around it.

This is not the first foot rash Lufenuron clears up. Half a year after writing this article, we received this email from a different customer:

Dear Sarah,

I have a question. WHEN WILL MORE LUFENURON BE AVAILABLE????

The first round I bought for my husband because he had a severe patch of dermatitis on his leg that I suspected was yeast related. Yes, you guessed it. IT WAS COMPLETELY HEALED!!!!

I had planned to buy the Lufenuron for me especially if it worked for healing his leg as I have been on the Candida diet for over a year. Please tell me the Lufenuron will be available soon. By the way, I happened to ask the vet about taking this medicine and she replied that, “if you can give it to a cat it can’t hurt you”. I thought that was funny.

God bless,
~j. inmаn
Murray, KY

I get a lot of questions about the best diet to combat Candida. Often, the person asking is already on a complex, exotic and expensive regimen of a wide variety of cleansers, detoxifiers, immune-boosters, antioxidants, probiotics and natural antifungals.

Surely, as an expert in the field of nutrition, I would be able to comment on their list of supplements, advise on better ones and come with an impressive list of guidelines for an anti-Candida diet? I am well aware that wherever you go on the Internet, such advice is plentyful – dispensed by casual forum participants, nutritionists, supplement pushers and armchair doctors.

I don’t believe that any of the currently available “anti-Candida” supplements are worth their price. I consider the great majority to be absolutely useless, and some even dangerous. There are exceptions, and I will talk about those later. First I want to address diet.

I have already written on how there is a lot of misunderstanding about what food to avoid in my general Candida information and article on mushrooms and Candida. I also gave a recipe for homemade probiotic yogurt.

Here comes my dietary advice for Candida sufferers: Keep your blood sugar level as low and even as possible - of course without starving yourself or depriving yourself of essential nutrients. This rule should be religiously followed by Candida patients (it’s also very healthy for others). For the rest you can eat anything agreeable to you, as long as you get sufficient essential nutrients and are not poisoning yourself with environmental pollutants in your food (no daily tuna!).

The key here is “sufficient essential nutrients”. Candida sufferers don’t get enough of them. I know that for a fact, because it’s simply impossible that modern man gets enough essential nutrients – because the soil has been severely depleted since modern agriculture started. Micronutrient-poor soil results in veggies with only half the original amount of vitamins and minerals. Nothing is more important to maintain a healthy immune system than good sleep and the avoidance of stress and environmental pollutants. Immediately after that come vitamins and minerals. It is essential to first spend your money on the proper vitamins and minerals in the proper dose and in their optimal formulation. Because your food can’t contain enough of them, unless you have access to a home garden. The food we buy in the supermarket or the greengrocers’ looks nice, but is woefully nutrient-deficient due to soil depletion and modern farming methods.

I forgot to explain how to keep the blood sugar level low and stable: Eat 6 to 7 small meals during the day and avoid large amounts of food with a high GI (Glycemic Index). It might surprise you that there are potatoes with a higher GI than table sugar – as can be found in Hilary Ross’ GI table (PDF). Control your intake of low-quality carbs and Candida won’t be able to benefit from a sugar rush. The lower the number in the second column, the better.

Back to the vitamins and minerals. Mundane, I know, but you can’t get around them. “Vitamin” means “essential to life”. They’re even more essential to people with a potentially lethal infection. Candida kills people with impaired immune systems. You need to get rid of it before old age. An immune system that battles Candida needs greater quantities of certain vitamins and minerals. These nutrients are essentially cheap because they can’t be patented. Hence their marginalization in the commercial sphere. The vitamins we need to supplement are the first five of the alphabet: A, B complex, C, D and E. The minerals (elements, actually – to be more specific: Metals) we need are Iron, Selenium and Zinc. These metals are essential to a proper functioning immune system. Choose formulations with a high biological availability, such as picolinates. Don’t take fancy schmantzy vitamins – stick to cheap brands with a good reputation. Forget about RDA ‘s (recommended daily amounts) – read up on what you really need and don’t be fooled into buying pills that only have a few times RDA. The fearmongering on how dangerous vitamins are when overdosed even a little bit is Big Pharma FUD, intended to shove Codex Alimentarius down our collective throats. Don’t overdo the vitamin A when you’re pregnant, don’t go crazy on the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D & E) because they’re harmful in extreme doses and are cumulative, but don’t believe that RDA baloney either. They do not pertain to sick people or people who genetically need higher doses. Remember: RDA’s have been established to prevent vitamin deficiencies in average, healthy people, not to achieve optimal health in non-average, sick people. Google the double-Nobel prize winner Linus Pauling and his research on vitamin C if you want to learn how vitamins can even cure cancer in some cases.

These are some supplements that help the immune system work better:

Andrographis

Astralagus root

Elderberry

Ginseng

..only bother with those when you’re on the best possible diet, and taking the best vitamin and mineral supplements.

It may be controversial, but I do not think that many anti-Candida remedies help much. There may be a few exceptions for certain Candidases, such as colloidal silver for intestinal Candida. A fresh, living yogurt or kefir is very, very good, if you can digest diary. I base my low opinion on the myriad of expensive “anti-Candida” supplements on the simple fact that I receive several emails a day from people who tell me that they tried XYZ and when I ask them about its efficacy, they usually say they didn’t notice any improvement. Candida is so hard to kill, that the only way it can be conquered is by helping your own immune system. Antifungal medicines greatly help, but in the end, your immune system has to prevent it from coming back. Mycelial Candida can never be eradicated 100%.

The use of Mercury (70%), Cadmium (0.5%) and Copper (30%) in amalgam dental fillings (“silver fillings”) is one of the most heinous crimes against health in modern history. These crimes were in some cases amplified by unscrupulous European dentists who deliberately caused cavities by systematically destroying dental enamel during their “checkups”, to make an extra buck. There is the infamous school dentist scandal in the Netherlands, where hundreds of mobile dentists literally demolished hundreds of thousands of children’s mouths over a roughly two-decade period from the mid-sixties to mid-eighties. These children suffered doubly: A dozen mostly unnecessary fillings, filled with toxic industrial waste that would later lead to all kinds of health problems. An excellent summary of how Mercury was fraudulently and illegally introduced by unscrupulous dentists and quacks can be read here.

Dentists and their backers, the heavy metal industry, of course disputed any expert or research saying that it was a bad idea to permanently place gigantic amounts of cumulative neurotoxins in children’s mouths, causing daily Mercury poisoning of up to 150 times the WHO exposure limit. Even though Mercury exposure literally made some dentists “mad as a hatter”, they fought tooth and nail to keep using Mercury in fillings. We now know that industrial interests as well as the avoidance of legal liability was behind this, and present here an overview on how this collusion took place:

As more and more people’s lives became ruined by Mercury almalgam, the world’s largest manufacturer decided it was better to stop selling it:

(Excerpt from a 1995 BBC Panorama documentary)

Degussa, whose headquarters are in Germany, is one of the world’s larger manufacturers of dental amalgam. Even they have now decided to get out of amalgam, thus abandoning nearly half their dental-products tumover. They say that there are innocent commercial reasons for this, but one of their executives suggests there’s prudence in the decision too.

BBC REPORTER: You are saying that, despite all this new scientific evidence, it’s a commercial coincidence that you are getting out of amalgam?

DR MATTHIAS KUHNER (Senior manager, Degussa) It was a decision that was driven by business reasons.

BBC REPORTER: Which would include legal reasons?

DR KUHNER: Definitely. When you are looking at a business, legal action can have an influence on your business. It can greatly increase the cost of your business if you have to take a lot of legal action or have to deal with a lot of legal actions, even if you are sure that in most cases or in all cases you come out being found not guilty.

BBC REPORTER: In that sense, surely the writing is on the wall for amalgam?

DR KUHNER Well, as I said before, I feel that the use of amalgam is going to decline even more in many nations.

Radioactive chocolate, used to be sold in Germany as well.

Assuming that, worst case, 10g of amalgam is present in the mouth of a patient with large fillings in all deciduous molars. If we estimate, once again as a worst case, that one third will be dissolved in one year, the following amounts of Mercury, Copper and Cadmium will be absorbed by the body:

In the example above the intake of Copper and Cadmium is doubled, but in the case of Mercury, the amount of toxic heavy metals delivered to the organism is many hundreds of times higher than the Mercury from food such as fish. A truly gigantic extra load of Mercury to the system.

Worldwide, corruption and deceit was successfully employed to keep poisoning children with these harmful elements. Scientific “research” was falsified or deliberately flawed such as to show no harm. A proponent of Mercury fillings in Norway (officially the “Least corrupt country on Earth” and UN-elected “Best country to live in”,) is Dr. Ivar Mjör. Dr. Mjör, head of the Scandinavian Institute of Dental Materials and a well-paid lobbyist for the Mercury amalgam industry, was asked by the Norwegian government to investigate the possible toxicity of amalgam fillings. He proceeded to place such a filling in distilled water, inevitably found that only a tiny amount leeched into it, and deviously proclaimed that Mercury fillings were perfectly safe.

Of course, Dr. Mjör knew all too well that his “research” was bogus. Mercury fillings spread their toxic metals through hot and acidic food they come into contact with, through chewing friction and through evaporation and inhalation of the Mercury vapor. Using distilled water was deliberate sabotage of the experiment. We could just as easily have given an example of similarly corrupt “research” in the US or UK, but use Norway, as this country is widely considered to be the most ethical and least corrupt country on the planet, with a freedom of the press ranked higher than that in the US. Dr. Mjör became a well-paid “expert witness” in court cases against dentists and the amalgam industry by people who’s lives were ruined by a lifelong exposure to their neurotoxic heavy metals. Dr. Mjör’s job was to ridicule and denounce them as malingerers, hypochondriacs and fraudsters in court. The bailed out Mercury industry and dentist associations paid him handsomely for his “expertise”. His delay tactics paid off but the number of victims continued to rise so finally in 2008, dental amalgam was forbidden in Norway.

Finally, absolute proof that silver fillings are constantly gassing out toxic fumes that you breathe in all the time:

Mercury and Candida

We do not need to provide links to studies proving that Mercury is bad for people. Everybody knows that by now. Fluorescent tubes are dangerous toxic waste because they contain a tiny amount of Mercury vapor, many times less than the Mercury in a single filling. Crematoria are required to limit their Mercury vapor release from dental fillings of deceased people, such as not to poison the vegetable gardens of their neighbors. Mercury is that dangerous. What we do want to find out is whether amalgam fillings promote, prolong or cause Candida infections, and we set out to investigate. There does not exist any peer-reviewed, published medical research on the relationship between Mercury and Candidiases, because the medical establishment is not even ready to admit that there is such a thing as chronic Candidiasis in a significant part of the population.

From what we found, Mercury poisoning can be misdiagnosed as Candida infection. Candida in the intestine produces alcohol, and that can make you lightheaded. Mercury with its neurological effects can do the same. Mercury’s most likely contributing factor to Candida is the fact that it impairs the immune system, as can be read in this summary on the adverse effects of Thiomersal on immune function.

It is probably best to get your fillings replaced by something better. The removal is risky – you should not breathe in the fumes that are set free when the fillings are removed. The dentist should use equipment to draw those fumes away during the procedure. Mercury accumulates in the intestine and antibiotic-resistant bacteria have been discovered there as well, as a direct result of Mercury exposure. It is possible that resistant forms of Candida are produced as well. Mercury can break DNA strands and thus cause mutations – most likely in the Candida organism as well.

The commercial probiotics capsules do not have the required amounts of friendly gut bacteria needed to repopulate your small intestine with Bifidobacteria, Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces. But there is a simple way of cheaply making your own powerful “living” kefir or yoghurt:

Take those capsules of probiotic cultures you have bought (ThreeLac, 5Lac etc.) and add them to a pint of any store bought organic whole milk “pro-biotic” yoghurt or kefir drink. verify that it is not pasteurized and that the label mentions “live active cultures”. Only use glass or stainless containers. Metals and plastics seem to harm the bacteria. Take care not to use fluoridated of chlorinated water with any living lactobacillus cultures.

Heat up two quarts of heavy cream (containing less lactose than whole milk) to 80°C / 180 °F for a couple of minutes to destroy any undesirable bacteria.

As an alternative, you can also use skim milk, powdered milk, whole milk, regular homogenized milk and even some types of soy milk – just as long as there are enough milk sugars or added sugars to feed the good lactobacteria.

Then let it cool to room temperature. Thoroughly stir in the store-bought probiotic yoghurt and the probiotic supplements.

Pour the mixture into a sealable container and close it off. Keep the yoghurt mix lukewarm at around 44 °C / 112 °F for at least 12 to 48 hours – in a large thermos for example. For best results, start incubating your brew at room temperature and increase the temperature gradually to 44 °C / 112 °F. This procedure is of course a lot easier with a yoghurt-making machine.

The kefir/yoghurt becomes “alive” after 6 – 12 hours, but remember: The longer you wait and let the yoghurt mature, the more lactose is eaten up by the bacteria and the more probiotics have been generated. Conversely, the longer you wait and let the mixture “brew”, the sourer and more acidic it becomes. Let your lactose-tolerance level and taste decide.

Save some as “starter” culture for your next batch.

After a few “generations” of yoghurt making, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus always likes to dominate the culture, so when making a probiotic yoghurt, make a fresh batch every couple of “generations” with a new starter mixture.

These beneficial bacteria can be used in your home-made kefir/yoghurt:

B. breve, B. longum, L. acidophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. casei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, S. boulardii, S. thermophilus.

What is Candida albicans?

Candida is like a seven-headed dragon – nearly impossible to kill. The most important factor in getting rid of Candida is boosting your immune system! Any infection with Candida albicans should be taken very seriously. This yeast can easily become a fungus, and in that form it is dangerous and near-incurable. Diets and probiotics will only be able to offer relief at that point.

Even the worst manifestation of Candida can be suppressed. With chronic Candidiasis nothing seems to really work, long-term. I’m not talking about fighting Candida thrush, rashes and yeast – that’s perfectly possible with essential oils, dietary changes and home remedies – I’m talking about getting rid of the chronic form of the disease, semi-systemic Candididasis that has thoroughly entrenched itself, a fungus that is not a yeast anymore, but a mycelial Candida with roots, a chronic fungus.

This form of Candidiasis is resistant to even the most agressive medical treatment because it has grown roots into your tissue and Candida has ways of evading attack. The first image shows these rhizoids or fungal roots. The next image shows Candida yeast – the common, easier-to-treat form.

You probably have noticed that your Candida symptoms are worst when your natural immunity is down. Candida flares that are not caused by a sugar-rush are perfect indicators of the state of your immune system. A bout of stress or lack of sleep can set off an attack, as well as other factors that can depress the immune system, like chronic illness – especially Diabetes – or sometimes pregnancy.

A working Candida cure takes the whole person into account: Stress avoidance, sufficient sleep, immune system boosting and low-GI diet in addition to effective antifungal treatment – traditional and alternative.

Natural immunity against Candida albicans is boosted by a diet that starves the Candida and feeds the probiotics, the good bacteria that feed on the Candida and produce substances that are harmful to Candida. A good Candida diet also contains enough nutrients such as vitamins and minerals to keep the immune system able to fight this insidious infection.

Candida Causes

The main cause of Candida Albicans infection is antibiotics. The longer and more often you take them, and the higher dose you take, the greater the risk of an opportunistic Candida infection – especially when you alternate or combine antibiotics of a different family. The reason for this is that Candida is always present on the skin, in the colon and on mucous membranes, but it is kept in check by bacteria that also live there. The runner-up risk factor for Candida is lack of sleep due to chronic stress or illness. Stress and lack of sleep depress the immune system in many ways, and Candida strikes. Corticosteroids are another Candida risk – also because they depress the immune system. Hormonal medications can invite Candida thrush, such as the birth control pill and Hormone Replacement Therapy. Lack of important nutrients make you susceptible to Candida, e.g. bad diet habits or eating disorders. Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and prohibited drugs can exacerbate or cause Candida overgrowth and rashes.

Illnesses such as Diabetes, Lupus or Thyroid problems can result in Candidiasis. Pregnancy is often related to the onset of Candida. It is important to breastfeed your baby for at least three months, because they get some protection – useful later in life – against Candida from immune factors in breast milk. Older people need to pay special attention to a healthy diet, because they’re especially susceptible to slow deterioration of gut flora and -lining.

How to get Candida albicans

A healthy colon contains around 1000 bacteria to 1 Candida yeast cell. The bacteria keep the Candida in check and prevent it from becoming mycelial (the chronic invasive fungal form).

When this delicate balance is disturbed by antibiotics for example, the good bacteria in the colon (lactobacillus acidophillus and bifidobacteria) die as well as the bad bacteria, but the Candida, being a yeast, unaffected by antibiotics, spreads like a wildfire. When that happens, the Candida can sprout roots like whiskers, hyphae that anchor themselves firmly in the gut lining. We call this form mycelial Candida. This mycelium is the same as the white root system in the soil of mushrooms in the forest. Another common cause of vaginal Candida yeast infection is the practice of douching. Frequent douching with water may result in an imbalance of the pH of the vagina, and thus may put women at risk for yeast infections.

This fungal form of Candida is the “rogue” form, the form that is nearly impossible to get rid of. The lining of the gut is only 2 cells thick – you can imagine how easy it is to develop Leaky Gut Syndrome when Candida overgrows the bacteria in the colon!

How to avoid Candida infection

Sleep at least 7 hours a night, preferably more. Do not work in shifts or at night – lead a regular life with good, long, uninterrupted sleep, always at the same hours. Avoid chronic stress at all cost. Brush your teeth at least once a day and avoid food with a high glycemic index (GI). If you have no other choice but to take a course of antibiotics, take antifungals with them. In countries like Russia and China, where antifungals were state-produced and cheap, this has always been the norm. Don’t “douche” the intimate organs, and use a pH-neutral soap. Candida doesn’t like an acid environment.

Candida FAQ

Q: Can I use yoghurt or kefir instead of capsules with probiotics?

A: Yes, but you have to make sure that the yoghurt or kefir is at most slightly sweetened (the bacteria need sugar to survive) and contains live acidophillus and bifido-bacteria, and that the yoghurt or kefir is very fresh. You can “potentiate” the yoghurt by mixing it into salad, thus spreading the bacteria out over a very large surface area. For best results, mix probiotic bacteria-powder into yoghurt or kefir. Even better is to culture your own yoghurt with optimal probiotic bacteria. You can read how to make your own yoghurt here.

Q: Are there any “miracle cures” for Candida?

A: Yes and no. To my knowledge, there is not a single “cure” advertized on the Internet that works. However, after having studied medical research and medical patents, I came across something that actually does work with any kind of chronic Candida infection, as long as you’re not on intravenous antifungals in a IC ward. This method is not “natural”, it involves an over-the-counter veterinarian substance that has nothing to do with Candida. It’s 100% safe. We sell it here.

Candida Symptoms

Candida can manifest itself in many ways and symptoms can be from mild to very uncomfortable to deadly within hours. (The latter can happen as “Candida septicemia” – Candida in the bloodstream – often in people with AIDS or in case of hospital-acquired infections in patients on immunosuppressant drugs for example.)

One rare symptom of Candida albicans is Candida of the nails:

We sell a natural antifungal against nail fungus.

Symptoms don’t have to be physical – they can be mental as well – one reason is that intestinal Candida produces alcohol and neurotoxins in the gut. Mental Candida symptoms include apathy, confusion, dizziness, foggy thinking, poor concentration, poor coordination and spaced-out feeling.

Classical oral Candida symptoms are a sore throat, a white coating on the tongue, blisters or sores in the cheeks, a burning tongue or bad breath.

Digestive Candida symptoms can be food allergies, gas, abdominal pain, gastritis, rectal itching, sugar cravings and ulcers.

Urinary Candida symptoms can be bladder infections, burning urination, kidney infection and urethritis.

Respiratory Candida symptoms can be bronchitis, chronic cough, clogged sinuses, excess mucous, nasal itching, sinus infections, wheezing, sneezing, pneumonia and chronic congestion.

Skin Candida symptoms can be diaper rash, eczema, red rashes, itchy patches on the skin and sores.

Eye symptoms can be floaters and blurred vision.

Candida Diagnosis

Candida is not necessarily hard to diagnose, but it is hard to obtain a positive diagnosis mainly due to the fact that Candida is very expensive to treat effectively with pharmaceutical medicines supplied by Big Pharma at extortionate prices. The problems with getting Candida properly diagnosed are exacerbated by the fact that it is often deemed “controversial” that people without serious immune system problems can have chronic Candidiasis at all. Antifungal medicines are extremely expensive, and Candida acquires immunity against them quickly, necessitating the administration of multiple antifungals simultaneously.

Diagnosing Candida

Candida albicans can be diagnosed with blood-, mucous membrane- or urine culture tests where they try to grow Candida in a Petri-dish and use a microscope to see what kind of Candida it is, or antibodies can be found with an ELISA test. There are many other, more accurate tests (PCR and immuno-fluorescence tests), but the more accurate a test, the more taboo it is, because it essentially forces the initiation of treatment because systemic Candidiasis has a near 100% mortality rate. Often, a doctor will simply refuse to do at Candida test at all.

Medical staff likes to stress that “Many people have antibodies against Candida”, when denying treatment after testing positive for Candida albicans. They call it a “false positive”, even though you do have Candida symptoms!

On the contrary – in case of Candida tests, our biggest headache are the false negatives, which is when you have Candida but the tests doesn’t show it. This is due to the problem that Candida antigens are rapidly cleared from circulation.

Allopathic Candida Diagnosis

There is a Candida yeast infection test based on the fact that the Candida organism ferments sugars into alcohol. This tests measures the baseline blood alcohol level. After that the patient eats a large quantity of sugar, causing Candida fermentation into alcohol, which is measured by the test. This test is only suitable for intestinal Candida – Candida in the gut. This test is also called the “alcohol challenge” test.

There is a Candida stool-culture and urine-metabolites test that can accurately identify the type of Candida species. These Candida tests have been developed by Michael Biamonte. The urine test finds organic acids that are a byproduct of Candida metabolism.

Candida saliva test (ELISA) (Not the “spit test”!)

A very specific, reliable test is the Candida ELISA saliva test, which tests for antibodies against Candida albicans in the saliva. These types of antibodies are of the IgA type, and the test plate will change color when enough of those antibodies are detected, resulting in a positive Candida diagnosis.

There is a simpler saliva test: Simply taking a swab of mucous tissue and investigating the cells under a microscope, looking for the characteristic Candida filaments typical for invasive Candidiasis. Candida can be diagnosed like this, but the test is unsuitable to judge the extent of the infection.

The “Candida Immune Complexes” test is the most reliable. (See Journal of Advancement in Medicine, Vol. 10, No. 3 published by the American College for Advancement of Medicine.) The test costs more than $100 and is available from several labs.

Chronic Candida

Candida is normally a yeast, and can be seen as vaginal thrush, discharge or whitish plaque on the tongue or inside the mucous membranes in the mouth. You have to prevent at all cost – whatever it takes – that this yeast stage of Candida transforms itself into the chronic form: Candida fungus. Chronic Candida often is not visible any more as white thrush, because the Candida organism is not a loose paste any more, not a smear of granular cells that can be scraped away, but a totally different form: The fungal form.

Fungal Candida can be compared with a plant that has roots, as opposed to plant seeds. The yeast manifestation of Candida are the “seeds”, and the chronic, fungal form of Candida are the “plants”. The roots of the Candida are called rhizoids, and instead of soil to root in, they penetrate your body tissues and suck the nutrients they need right out of your cells and bloodstream. This form of Candida is nearly impossible to get rid of and is often near-invisible.

Whilst yeast thrush is merely inconvenient, chronic Candidiasis is the next step towards a possible systemic Candidiasis, which can become life-threatening when immunity drops significantly, for example at an advanced age or after an organ transplant. There is a big difference between Candida yeast and Candida fungus. To help you understand how dangerous Candida can be: A mere 3000 Candida yeast cells injected into the bloodstream of an adult (an amount so small that it would be totally invisible to the naked eye) has a lethality of 98%. Death usually occurs from severely damaged heart valves or central nervous system involvement.

There are three stages of Candida infection:

1. Yeast (discharge, rash, thrush etc.)

2. Chronic form (reoccurring ulcers, red patches, painful sores, long-term serious problems and symptoms)

3. Systemic form: Untreated always lethal and 30-40% dies even with prompt medical treatment.

The first stage usually takes several years, and always is caused by underlying conditions or problems. Taking antibiotics long-term, for example. This is by far the most common cause of an eventual chronic Candida. When you are on antibiotics, you should take some precautions. Oral hygiene is of the utmost importance. The longer the Candida yeast remains in your mouth, the more chance it has to defeat the immune system and sprout roots. Don’t forget your tongue when brushing your teeth.

Another safeguard against Candida is to regularly consume “living” yoghurt or kefir, with probiotic bacteria, good bacteria such as Lactobacillus Acidophillus and Bifidobacteria. This beneficial gut flora raises the acidity in the intestines, and Candida has trouble living in an acidic environment.

Diagnosing chronic Candida

The number of symptoms associated with chronic Candidiasis are so numerous and so seemingly unrelated, that just about anything could be caused by a chronic Candida infection. The only way to be reasonably sure is to use some common sense: Have you had long-term thrush or rashes before? Especially after using antibiotics, getting sick, pregnancy or being on medications such as hormones? Do you still have rashes, ulcers or pains occasionally? Are there other symptoms that can’t be connected to other diseases, but appeared after your Candida and/or your immune system got worse? When in doubt, try to get professionally diagnosed.

Managing chronic Candida

When you have bad luck, you were unable to prevent the yeast form of Candida to transform into the fungus form. In that case, you have to try to get rid of it as much as possible. In my opinion, the second, chronic stage of Candidiasis is nearly incurable. But you can at least suppress it and minimize its symptoms and severity. The first and foremost thing you have to do is keep your immune system in perfect order. This is much more important than anything else. A strong, healthy immune system is more effective in suppressing Candida than even the best and most expensive antifungal medicines – especially long-term. Candida easily gets resistant to antifungals – you have to rely on your immune system to pull you through.

Then you have focus on diet. Avoid food with a high GI (Glycemic Index), especially when suffering from intestinal Candida. With Candida in the colon, you simply can’t eat any sugars or any grains. No pasta, bread, potatoes or even most fruit. The Atkins diet is your friend in this case. I would recommend going easy on the butter and fat meat, and eat nuts, fatty fish and organic eggs instead.

When you suffer from the occasional sore in warm, moist areas, use essential oils like Oil of Oregano to kill it off. Mix the oil 1:3 with vegetable oil, because undiluted, essential oils will damage the skin.

Mouth sores can be rubbed with a variety of powdered fungicidal herbs, such as myrrh. Anyone will have access to cinnamon powder – this is a real Candida-killer but beware: A little known fact about Cinnamon is that it can cause oral cancer when overused. Then again, Candida in the mouth is also known to cause oral cancer, so it’s OK to use a little Cinnamon now and then to get rid of the Candida.

Candida in the small intestine (IBS)

Did you know there are no methods known to medical science to have a look at the small intestine? So if you ever gotten a colonoscopy to diagnose possible Candida in your gut, then you’re out of luck when the Candida resides mainly in your small intestine. Yet, this is what Candidiasis in the small intestine looks after you died of it. This is why you need to ask for a Candida stool culture test as a diagnostic tool for Candida in the intestinal tract.

Doctors do not believe that people with intact immune function can have such a thing as Candida in the colon. They will therefore usually not prescribe the proper tests, because they are laborious and expensive, and they would dismiss a positive result as a false positive anyway, due to their belief system.

The reality is that anyone who has ever been on a few weeks of antibiotics can have a severe Candida overgrowth in the intestines, because as soon as Candida has taken root in the colon, it will never yield its gained ground back to the beneficial acidophillus gut bacteria.

Candida albicans has extensive defense mechanisms

..to neutralize the good gut flora. This is what intestinal Candida looks like.

The big problem with Candida in the gut is the “Leaky Gut Syndrome”, which is caused by the microscopic holes the Candida fungus makes in the lining of the intestinal wall. Through this perforated gut lining, large food molecules can pass into the bloodstream, and cause all kind of allergies because these substances are not supposed to enter the blood without first being digested, especially not in the large molecular size they have before digestion.

Risk factors for gastrointestinal Candidiasis include a weakened immune system (due to cancer or stress for example), hypothyroidism, diabetes, oral contraceptives, alcoholism, a diet rich in simple sugars and, last but not least, (repeated) use of antibiotics.

Systemic Candida

Systemic Candidiasis is officially almost always lethal within days, without treatment. The gentleman in the picture almost certainly is suffering from AIDS. and has gotten a Candida infection in the eye. So, “systemic” is in the strict medical sense reserved for people who are in danger of imminent death due to the Candidiasis. Still, many Candida patients consider their Candida infection to be “systemic” in the sense that it’s “everywhere”, and they can’t get rid of it. And they are right. In the strict medical sense however, systemic Candidiasis is one of the most lethal diseases in the short term, and the prognosis for even otherwise healthy persons with access to unlimited antifungal medicines is quite poor. The huge mistake mainstream doctors make is thinking that systemic Candida can only exist as an imminently deadly disease, and not as a precarious equilibrium between the fungus and the immune system.

Candida is said to be “systemic” when Candida yeast cells can be found in the bloodstream or in body organs. The official medical wisdom says this is impossible when the immune system is in good order, and therefore they will only call a Candidiasis “systemic” when they find it in an AIDS patient or someone on immunosuppressant drugs.

It is clear to everyone trying to get rid of their chronic Candida that otherwise healthy people also can suffer from systemic Candidiasis – systemic being i”n the system”, such as the bowels – and that they do not die of this because their immune system is strong enough to keep it in check. Sometimes their immune system is strong enough to suppress most symptoms, and sometimes, due to lack of sleep, bad dietary habits or stress, the Candida flares up again. Mind you – I’m talking relatively serious Candida here – not a little rash on the skin but chronic coughing with a feeling of congestion in the chest, or signs like persistent sores on genitalia, anal region or mouth., or Intestinal Candida.

Research has shown that blood is not always sterile as claimed, and that people who claim to have serious, long-term trouble with Candidiasis actually have living Candida cells in their bloodstream.

Unfortunately, medical science in the West is evidence-based because it is dominated by a for-profit methodology. A doctor simply can’t believe their patients, tests have to prove it, regardless of the fact that most tests test the wrong things, or are principally flawed.

Candida Diet

Candida loves sugars, so you can starve this organism – especially when you have intestinal Candidiasis. The key is to eat very little sugars – this includes fruit sugars, cakes, jams and honey. Since the blood sugar raises dramatically when you eat food with a high Glycemic Index, also this food is taboo – at least until you have gotten rid of the Candida infection. Food with a high GI are bread, potatoes, white rice and pasta.

Antifungal drugs will often fail, if sugars are not eliminated from the diet. This includes all sweetened drinks & soda, fruits and fruit drinks, corn syrups, and other high sugar containing products. Read your labels! Past publications have emphasized the fact that Candida ferments and rapidly proliferated in the presence of simple sugars. This is correct, and research has proven that sugars greatly increase the ability of Candida to adhere to epithelial mucous cells and may be the most important factor in causing gastrointestinal Candidiasis.

To make a long story short: A near-ideal anti-Candida diet is the Atkins diet. As a side effect, this diet incidentally works wonders to lose weight as well!

A reminder: The Atkins diet minimizes the intake of carbohydrates. Don’t overdo it – when you go fundamentalist-extremist on the Atkins diet, you can damage your kidneys.

Here’s why it’s not advisable to eliminate all carbohydrates from your diet: A high protein diet can even be bad for these reasons: 1. The breakdown of proteins produces ammonia, creating an environment favorable to Candida yeast. 2. Undigested proteins that are absorbed through the consequential “leaky gut” can put an excess strain on your immune system. 3. Carbohydrates provide food for your beneficial intestinal flora. Without feeding your normal, “good” flora, they will die off – allowing further proliferation of Candida.

So a dietary regimen that combats Candida is not a simple matter.

It is of great importance to keep your blood sugar level as even as possible throughout the day when you’re trying to starve the Candida. One way to achieve this is to take small regular meals every 3 hours – amounting to 5 or 6 meals daily. Unsweetened living yoghurt or kefir are excellent snacks, as well as nuts or canned fish. Salads should be one of your mainstays. Modest amounts of lactose (milk sugar) from fermented diary is beneficial to people with intestinal Candida.

The interesting thing about salads is that unwashed, they contain a plethora of bacteria – most of them in fact beneficial to your digestive system. Another thing about salad is that if you mix yoghurt into it, it turns into a veritable ecosystem for those good bacteria, because the many leaves increase the surface area for the bacteria. Chop up a varied salad, put a little yoghurt in it and notice the effect on your digestive system!

More of these tips can be found in the books I linked to above.

When eating so often during the day, make sure you keep your caloric intake within reasonable bounds. This “many small meals” strategy actually helped quite a few people to go down in weight!

Excellent food for the Candida-afflicted is vegetable soup without starchy ingredients like pulses or potatoes. But the effectiveness of certain vegetables like garlic and onions has been overstated though. Raw, they can prevent or ameliorate a beginning Candidiasis in the intestine or mouth, yes. But firmly entrenched, Candida is not going to care much.

Candida Myths

There are some persistent falsehoods circulating about Candida, and I assume the reason is that they sound logical to the average person – not being a biochemist or molecular biologist.

Candida and baker’s yeast

People tend to believe that because Candida is a yeast, and because bread-yeast is a yeast, that the totally harmless dough-yeast is somehow bad for them, that they will be at the very least “allergic” to baker’s yeast.

This is complete nonsense in many ways. The people who spread this myth ignore the fact that the very high temperatures involved in baking bread not only completely kills any and all yeast in the bread (the bread becomes sterile) but that there remains nothing left of the yeast molecules! All life on Earth is made of proteins. Proteins already “denature” at 60° C. Bread is baked at five times that temperature. So the bakery yeast is neither harmful alive because it is a harmless organism for humans, neither is it alive in bread, neither can it act as a “fungal allergen” because its entire structure is broken down by the extreme temperatures in an oven. Of course, bread can be bad for Candidiasis patients for other reasons: Flour breaks down into simple sugars, feeding the Candida.

Candida and mushrooms

Some folks even go further, and spread the Candida nonsense that when you suffer from Candida infection, that you can’t eat mushrooms like Champignons. This is “magical thinking”, or at the very least pseudoscience and a wrong deduction. Mushrooms are not Candida, even though Candida is a “mushroom”. Mushrooms do not infect the body, neither do they magically become allergens just because you have a leaky gut caused by Candidiasis. Champignons are as far removed from Candida as is a Llama from a bed bug. On the contrary, mushrooms are good against Candida.

Candida and antibiotics in meat

It is generally believed that when cattle is given antibiotics, that the antibiotic residues in their meat somehow can kill the beneficial bacteria in and on your body, and that this will enable Candida to take root or spread. This is nonsense! Bacteria can only be influenced when the MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) exceeds a certain level. Firstly, the antibiotics get eliminated from the animal as soon as they are administered. Secondly, by eating a large steak of an antibiotic-fed cow, you will not even ingest a thousandth of the dose you would need to have the slightest effect on any bacteria in your body. Because not only have the antibiotics been broken down in the cow, but you are diluting the antibiotic at least a hundredfold by eating only 1% of your body weight in a meal of antibiotic-treated meat.

Candida and the spit test

There is no evidence that the spit test is reliable.

Candida and the muscle test (Kinesiology)

Any kind of “muscle testing” – also to diagnose Candida infection – is proven quackery.

Candida and Probiotics (ThreeLac, 5Lac etc.)

Of course a healthy gut flora is essential to prevent Candida infestation and to help fight Candida infection. That is not disputed, but probiotics are maliciously overrated for financial gain and here is how:

I may have no evidence that will stand up in court, but here is my opinion: ThreeLac’s producer is a multi-million dollar corporation and for the past years they have employed a small army of professional forum posters that pretend to be happy customers. The hype is amplified by countless affiliates. Gullible folks believe the hype and chip in with similar positive, largely unsubstantiated spin. The financial gain from this deception has been countless millions of dollars. The main thing ThreeLac, 5Lac or any other probiotic product can do for you is to help replenish depleted gut flora after a course with antibiotics. It can not kill mycelial Candida in the gastrointestinal tract, let alone elsewhere in the body. It can not improve vaginal thrush or Candida rashes or sores anywhere. As far as a serious Candidiasis is concerned, they are about as close to a placebo as you can get. Gut flora can’t do miracles. How ever much you keep adding to your colon, they will never be able to displace, poison or kill entrenched Candida. They are disgracefully overpriced for what they offer and next to useless for anyone with Candida. The amount of money involved in this scam is so gigantic that I expect to be flamed to a crisp by their affiliates and “covert operatives”, but I am ready. I realize I may sound petty and hateful, but our “bsiness model” is to cut the crap and have a scientific attitude. We could have a site just like all the others, parrotting the same things as everyone else, become a ThreeLac affiliate etc. but we have the hope that there is a place, a “market” for honest, well-researched information. I know this sounds like a malicious conspiracy theory and it might be that speaking my mind will cause anger and damage my credibility with some people, but this is my website and I say whatever I find important to say. Probiotics have a place in Candida management, but the commercial products are scandalously overhyped. Next time you see ThreeLac praised to high heaven, examine how often they mentioned ThreeLac in their previous postings, starting from the very beginning.

ThreeLac encourages to you to use their product every day for the rest of your life, spending thousands on it. People think it helps them a little, due to the hype. If they have the cash to spare, they’re reluctant to discontinue it – due to the hype. We hate that. We’d rather have people spend their money on an excellent diet with assorted nuts and fresh oily fish such as mackerel. A good diet is expensive. If you can’t go without bread, the most expensive whole grain bread is the best for you. Big salads with lots of leafy greans are the best to restore intestinal health – even better than any yoghurts. This because you will never to be able to wash all bacteria off the salad, and those bacteria will colonize your gut with a wide variety of probiotics. Yes, those bacteria are usually good for you! Use your money wisely. Don’t start with buying our products and don’t buy ThreeLac either. First spend the money on improving your diet. Then try whatever product you are interested in. Then ignore the hype and objectively judge whether it helped you. Stop using it when you don’t see results. Try something else. Don’t get addicted to the most expensive powdered yoghurt on the planet!

Many double-blind medical studies have been done and all have shown that Kinesiology (“muscle testing”) is no better than random guessing.[1][2] Moreover, these peer-reviewed studies have shown that “muscle tests” are non-reproducible[3][4][5] and subjective as to who does the testing. Kinesiology has been proven not to be able to distinguish a test substance from a placebo under double-blind conditions.[6] Kinesiologists are unable to give a scientific explanation validating their belief system. Rigorous research by respected scientists concluded that Kinesiology does not do what it purports.[7]

There are no mainstream medical organizations endorsing “Applied Kinesiology”. Quackwatch condemns it in the strongest terms. Although this is no evidence of anything, there is no shortage of people calling Kinesiology/”muscle testing” voodoo, quackery, pseudoscience, magical thinking, a scam, nonsense, a hoax, baloney, deception, controversial, a fraud, mumbo-jumbo and unscientific.

Of course, we are not implying that people with a “positive” muscle test for Candida or other ailments aren’t ill. These people are sick – that’s is why they spend time, money and effort on getting diagnosed and treated. Main stream medicine has utterly failed in that respect, so the playing field lies wide open for anyone offering an alternative. Neither are we implying that Kinesiologists are fraudsters.

We have sold many Lufenuron treatment packages to all kinds of people who told us they are suffering from chronic Candidiasis. People who have been previously diagnosed with Candida infection, people who have been prescribed antifungals by an infectious disease specialist, people in risk-groups who have self-diagnosed after documenting unmistakable Candida symptoms, people who test positive on Candida antibody tests, people who have opportunistic Candida infections, people who score high on the Candida questionnaire – all these people report great results with Lufenuron.

Whilst those with vague complaints and only a Candida muscle test or Candida spit test to show for their alleged Candidiasis – quite a few have poor results. When Lufenuron does not make any change in your symptoms, you most likely do not have Candidiasis. It is a cheap way to discover this. Please do not rely solely on diagnostic methods that have not yet been proven in the field!

Alternatives to the Candida muscle test

Good alternatives are Candida antibody tests on blood or saliva. A less accurate test is the “alcohol challenge” test. Stool tests are unreliable. A vinegar enema is reported to show white strands if you suffer from intestinal Candidiasis.

A good naturopath will take the entire person into account and will diagnose not solely based on a muscle test but on his or her experience and assessment of the patients’ history and present symptoms.

The best Candida test:

The “Candida Immune Complexes” test is the most reliable. (See Journal of Advancement in Medicine, Vol. 10, No. 3 published by the American College for Advancement of Medicine.) The test costs more than $100 and is available from several labs.
