Essential Day Spa Review: Dishonesty and bad value

Essentialdayspa.com has a very popular forum with a community of people interested in skincare. Many of these people are our esteemed customers. Unfortunately, the owners of the EDS forum are not as friendly as their patrons because they refused to allow us to defend ourselves against particularly malicious libel against our company on their forum. Instead, they kept deleting our defense, blocked our IP address and deleted our account. They ignored our polite emails with proof that the libel was false and malicious. Then, when we called them with the intention to politely ask them to address the issue, Mr. Muszynski refused to let our webmaster speak (literally did not give him the opportunity to utter a single word except saying who he was) and instead in a Mafia-like manner bullied him for a few minutes and then hung up on him. We had to spend CAD 1000,- on a Vancouver attorney to finally get the libel removed. EDS formally apologized but then, instead of deleting the one or two libelous postings by a Singaporean girl, deleted hundreds of postings where forum members positively discussed our products and our company, with many elaborate postings made by Sarah in which she carefully answered many questions. After that, whenever we answered questions on the EDS forum, the entire thread was summarily deleted and our customers as well as ourselves hung out to dry. Puzzled about Mr. Muszynski's hostility and disappointed with their "retaliation" by going on a deletion rampage, we wanted to learn more about EDS in an attempt to find out who we were dealing with.

Some of EDS's members are fiercely loyal and want to hear nothing bad about "their" site, even though we have nothing against them. We are often warned that EDS members are a market segment to reckon with and that if we don't walk on eggshells on their forum or even on our own site, we can expect to be boycotted by them. To those people we say: If you're the kind of person that has no problem with us being censored and IP-banned because we defend ourselves politely and relevantly against serious libel, then we would greatly appreciate it if you would not burden us with your patronage. We take customer service very seriously, also when that means it costs us an enormous amount of money, as the customers of the DermaJet can attest to. Such commitment to our customers also means that libel will be responded to, in order to safeguard our hard-earned reputation.

Meanwhile, EDS lies about their own reputation:

The BBB gave EDS the worst rating, an F, and they mentioned that for a long time, EDS has falsely been claiming BBB accreditation. Essential Day Spa is run by the Canadian company Essential Professional Skin in Vancouver, Canada, owned by the Polish immigrant couple Magda Marzena Misiewicz and Andrze Muszynski from 318 Rosehill Wynd Delta, Vancouver. EDS is not just marketing products to forum members but Magda Misiewicz is a cosmetologist/estetician (RSN 2123595/licence 14-111226) and they operate a salon/store in Vancouver.

Essentialdayspa.com pays for fake "reviews"

"Advertising issues" indeed, because when we visited their site, one of the first things we noticed is that they're soliciting fake positive reviews and paying for them: Essentialdayspa review

Essential Day Spa is one of those vendors that only care about making money and have no expertise on the products they sell (Source):

EDS-Essential-Day-Spa-bad-review"I went to their spa last week to purchase skincare products. Part of what I wanted wasn't kept in stock. The woman behind the desk told me that she could order them but it would be a few weeks and I'd have to return. Fair enough, but she really didn't seem to care about what I bought and what I needed. I bought close to $300 worth of products, without any input from her. There were a lot of products. She asked me if I needed a bag - I think I would have offered a bag to a $300 drop in customer to whom I'd offered no assistance but that's just me. I had been considering going there for services and I've changed my mind. The person at the front desk should have knowledge or should call someone up front who has knowledge. She should act like she's glad the customer is there and maybe even ask what products I wanted from the line that wasn't in stock so that she might have found comparable products in stock. I am not used to being treated with such indifference."

Essentialdayspa.com pays for positive reviews and they falsely claim to be BBB accredited. We verified that they indeed claim to be BBB accredited:

Essential Day Spa BBB fraud

It does not surprise us that with this fundamentally dishonest attitude, their products are extraordinarily expensive for mostly cheap rebranded products made in China. Many, if not most listed products make promises they can't keep, and their cost of shipping is outrageous. Where other vendors waive shipping charges on larger orders or cap the cost of shipping (we even have free shipping), EDS slaps on an extra 20 or even 40 dollars as soon as the order gets substantial. It appears as if the product range was chosen for its profitability and marketability instead of its efficacy and value-for-money. EDS does not educate the reader, all they do is try to sell. Contrast this with truly "educational science", where we investigate and debunk various claims such as "Apple stem cell skin serums". You can't expect honesty from a company that sells basically "everything".

Essential Day Spa's products are often absurdly expensive, such as with this moisturizing cream for the eye area, complete with two fake, paid-for reviews:

This lipstick-size bottle of two dollars' worth of vitamin cream "Respects the natural pH". I guess that's why it costs the same as two weeks' rent!

Essentialdayspa.com: Fundamentally dishonest

When examining closely, Essential Day Spa is lying on every level and seems to be targeting gullible people that are easily parted from their money. Let's look at all those fancy "verified by" logo's they're displaying, to make the customer believe their purchase is safe, the website is legit etc. All these logos are illegally used - they do not have any accreditation from anyone, they are not "Comodo secured", they are not a "Thawte authentic site"! An example are these logos they illegally display:

EDS-scam-essential-day-spa-scammers

If these logos were legit, you'd be able to click them to verify. Try it on their site. It won't work because they violate the copyright of these organizations, which charge a fee in return for a rigorous evaluation and quality control program. EDS benefits from these plagiarized safety certification logos while they are not paying those fees and have never been evaluated at all! If you want to see an example of how these logos are supposed to work, click on our "Doctor Trusted" logo. You'll see which medical doctor actually evaluated our site, when our site qualified, our current status etc. And Doctortrusted encourages our customers to complain to them so they can revoke our status if neccessary. In reality, the EDS site is not Comodo secured, it is not a Thawte authentic site, EDS has a BBB F rating and they lie about it all and assume their customer is too stupid to ever discover that they've been hoodwinked on this basic level. When examining their actual products or customer service, we see more of the same chicanery. OK, so Essential Day Spa has the worst possible BBB rating, an F. That wouldn't be so bad by itself, really. The BBB is kind of an extortion racket, to tell you the truth. Although getting a F is usually the consequence of numerous valid and unresolved complaints. The real issue here is that EDS lies and claims they have an A+ BBB rating. With such a fundamentally dishonest attitude, of course their claims about the products they sell are inflated too. It's means they prefer to cheat instead of resolving issues. The most common reason for a bad BBB rating is having a large number of angry customers, combined with a refusal or inability to solve these issues.

EDS's dishonesty is all-pervasive because all the other logos they're fencing with on their site www.essentialdayspa.com are fraudulently used as well:

Essentialdayspa.com: "Frauds and Thieves"

On Complaintsboard.com, one of EDS's customers called them "frauds and thieves" because allegedly, the customer was persuaded to add a "free gift" to his cart but then noticed unexpected credit card charges. They refused to refund him:

Eskincarestore a good Canadian EDS alternative

If you go to the bottom page of eskincarestore.com, you'll see that they do have clickable certification logos and you'll see they have a real A+ BBB rating. We are neither related to or paid by that company and they don't even know that we posted this. Quality is important in our sector, to avoid giving all of us a bad name. Bad apples have to be occasionally named & shamed in order to cleanse the sector; for the benefit of both customers and the industry as a whole.

A couple of minutes before reading your article I placed an order with this company. So now there is only one thing that I can do, and that is to keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well for me. Lilian.

My kids purchased a $200 gift certificate for me for birthday and Mother's Day in May, 2017. In October I tried to contact Essential Day Spa in Bloomington, IL. The response was "this number has changed or is no longer in service." My husband drove out to the location to find a new spa with a new name. When he inquired about redeeming the gift certificate there they indicated they would not redeem it. A call to the general manager got the same response. It appears we are out of luck. NEVER again.
